Description
THESE WERE FOUND IN AN ESTATE FULLY BOXED AS SHOWN IN PHOTOGRAPHS!! I do not know their working capabilities, so I will be SELLING AS IS, NO REFUNDS. They will be conveyed in original boxes, secured and padded with padding, to be put into a larger outer sturdy shipping box. I will be shipping in two boxes, one box having the amplifier and the other have the speakers. I will be shipping them using a Priority or comparable service. Shipping cost will be based on the weight of the combined boxes. You will receive exactly what you see - the receiver and speakers packaged as found, double boxed and well padded. If there is damage due to shipment, you will of course receive a refund. But, as noted, I will not be accepting returns. Both items are dated February 1959. The serial number of the receiver is 4985. Condition is as seen - it looks great to me!! I will note only a few small soil marks on the speaker fronts - see listing photos. The speaker wire and receiver power cord are both supple and will not need replacement. GREAT MID-CENTURY MODERN LOOK. Here is what I was able to find on the internet describing the S81: "This nice looking amp was originally thought as additional amp for radio consoles when stereo sound came up. The amp was designed for 5 Ohms and delivers (using new tubes) 2 watts to 4Ohm and 1.5 watts to 8 Ohm loads. As it only had to reproduce higher frequencies, the frequency range was cut in the higher bass range by using very small coupling caps (220pF). At the same time a small cap from the plate of the input triode was used to avoid self excitation, but the result was an unsatisfying high frequency response for HiFi use." On the Telefunken Allvox-Strahler RS1 speakers: "They were originally used to provide mid and high frequency content to a 3 way system, although they are full range speakers, you won't get the bass response you would get from a larger set."
